Hobbies

In my youth, my family moved a bit so I became adept at change, meeting people, and immersion in education. I was a girl scout until the age of 17 and then a Girl Scout leader after college for 5 years. The leader role was for a group of girls in the area I was living/working ages ranged from 2nd grade to 9th grade. There is much mentorship and coaching/guiding in this type of leadership role. I was involved in childcare from about 13 until 30 especially the role of a nanny during graduate studies. I have the INFJ-A personality which is rare and consider an Advocate. I still think about students from long ago as I make a personal connection with everyone. After more than 20 years in the role of professor in higher education, I became disenchanted with a dysfunctional environment and decided to leave to forge a new unpaved path. Therefore tutoring is my niche and I truly enjoy connecting with people outside of the academy (that sometimes limits who has access). I also gave up on living in an urban area and now reside in a rural area with many animals and several acres to manage. I consider myself a life-long learner. I love words. Words and Image are important in visual communication. I can catch a typographic error because of my training in this field and I am also an excellent editor. I take the role of coach and can support each person I work with based on their individual needs and learning styles. I used to travel a lot and spent much time exploring Japan. I audited a travel writing course in Dublin and started a travel blog website. I am an avid photographer mostly when I travel to document my experiences. I also love interior design. As a life-long learner, I'm enrolled in a naturalist program to learn more about the land around me and another to become certified as a Forest Bathing guide (Shinrin-yoku).
